Kula Poster for The Librarians

Vancouver Island Premiere of The Librarians

Join us for the Vancouver Island premiere of Kim A. Snyder’s The Librarians followed by a special panel discussion/audience Q & A

You are invited to participate in the Vancouver Island premiere of the award-winning documentary, The Librarians. As an unprecedented wave of book banning is sparked across North America, librarians under siege join forces as unlikely defenders fighting for intellectual freedom on the front lines of democracy.

The film screening will be followed by a special panel of librarians/publishers talking about the role of the freedom of information in healthy democracies who will welcome questions from the audience.

“Freedom to read can never be taken for granted. Even in Canada, a free country by world standards, books and magazines are banned at the border, and schools and libraries are regularly asked to remove books and magazines from their shelves. Few of these stories make headlines, but they affect the right of Canadians to decide for themselves what they choose to read.” – Freedom to Read website
