Kula Announces New Undergraduate Research Fellowship

In Robert Gibbs’ What Can A University Be, Gibbs “imagines a university focused on engaging students in research at all levels and across all faculties.” This ideal is mirrored in UVic’s Strategic Plan in which students engage in “research and creative activities that make an impact, both locally and globally.” Research is much more than a mere academic pursuit: it is a life-long foundation and methodology for truth seeking, for engagement with real-world problems, and for community building. In sum, it is a life-changing opportunity for undergraduates to work on faculty projects and connect them with information and cultural heritage professionals at UVic Libraries & Art Collections.

In this spirit, Kula is excited to announce a new hands-on initiative to support students in imagining their work at the intersection of multiple disciplines and the future of libraries, archives, and information: The Kula Library Futures Undergraduate Fellowship. (https://www.uvic.ca/library/about-us/awards-fellowships/kula-fellowship/index.php). The fellowship complements the initiatives happening across campus from the Provost’s office to the VPRI, to a number of labs and rooms across the faculties.

The fellowship is open to current undergraduate students in Humanities, Social Sciences, or Sciences who are engaged in research supervised by a UVic professor. Applications are open until Oct 1.

Please help us spread the word!

With many thanks to the KLFUF Team:
