Dr. Marc Marin Webb

Dr. Marc Marín Webb is an architect and cultural-heritage researcher who recently completed his doctorate in Middle Eastern Languages & Cultures at the University of Pennsylvania, where his dissertation received the Roger Allen Prize.

He is now an SSHRC Impact + Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Victoria. Trained in architecture in Barcelona and Berlin, he has contributed to museum exhibitions, conservation initiatives, archaeological work, and field research across Europe, North America, and the Middle East.

His research examines the preservation and reinterpretation of built heritage in post-conflict contexts, with particular attention to minority communities, including Yezidis in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. Combining architectural training with archival research, archaeology, heritage documentation, and memory studies, he investigates how cultural landscapes, material remains, and public-facing heritage initiatives shape relationships to history, place, and collective memory.
